SBP clarifies inflation target, forecast

KARACHI: The State Financial institution of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday clarified information experiences associated to common inflation forecasts.

The SBP mentioned that in some sections of the media, SBP’s common inflation forecast of 7-9 per cent in FY22 is being interpreted because the ‘inflation goal’ and being in comparison with the inflation targets of different international locations. That is incorrect.

SBP’s inflation forecast represents our projections for the present fiscal yr.

However, Pakistan’s inflation goal is ready by the Authorities and is 5-7 per cent. This goal is to be achieved over the medium time period.

Financial coverage is anchored on reaching the federal government’s inflation goal over the medium time period, i.e. over the following 18-24 months, the SBP added.
